The Learning Environment

Resources that support and inspire

Westende is situated in a mature area on the eastern side of Wokingham, just a short walk from the town centre.

The school was established in 1974 and over time the buildings and grounds have evolved to accommodate the needs of two classes in each year group, with lovely outside spaces for learning and playing.

Our warm and welcoming classrooms provide a stimulating learning environment where your child will feel safe and supported. The classrooms have recently been refurbished with new tables and chairs and the latest interactive whiteboards. Children have access to up to date technology in addition to a dedicated library, large hall space and music practice room.

We are lucky to have extensive outdoor facilities including a multi-use games area, an adventure playground, a large field, wildlife garden and an onsite heated swimming pool.

But the thing that makes Westende truly unique is the Acorns Resource; dedicated classrooms and outdoor space designed to support the learning needs of up to 14 children with Special Education needs for Autism Spectrum Disorders.  The children in the Resource receive special teaching in purpose-built environment with specialist staff and with their peers in mainstream classes.  The inclusion of children in the Resource in all aspects of Westende life makes the ethos of Westende so special.

The children, staff, local advisors and parents of Westende are really proud of their school; and we look forward to welcoming you too.
